Grange Lido, Grange-Over-Sands
For those who don't know, a Lido is an open air sea-water swimming pool/arena style, usually built on or near to the sea front, pier or promenade!
Grange Lido was built in in 1932 and is an integral part of Grange promenade and the conservation area. It has a breath taking location on the edge of the Lake District National Park looking over Morecambe Bay. It is one of only 5 or 6 seaside Lidos still surviving.
This grade II listed pool, is the last remaining Art Deco Lido in the North of England. Unfortunately, it was closed in 1993 and has remained unopened since. It has been identified as the most important coastal building in the North. The Lido is an Art Deco gem and proposals for restoring the buildings and providing an open public space are under consideration.
