The Brewery Arts Centre
The Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal is one of the leading arts centres in the UK and a hub of creativity in the town. Since opening to the public in 1972, this multi-purpose arts complex has played a vital role in the cultural life of the area, establishing a loyal local following and a strong national and international reputation.
The Brewery offers a year-round programme of inspiring and diverse theatre, dance, music, comedy, cinema, lectures and exhibitions, together with a range of amateur participatory activities including art and craft workshops, Cumbria Youth Theatre, and a wide variety of classes for all ages. The Brewery Youth Arts Programme offers exciting opportunities for huge numbers of young people to perform on a professional stage.
The Brewery hosts many festivals on a regular basis, including the Freerange Comedy Festival, and major international events such as the annual Kendal Mountain Festival.
The Centre is housed in a 150 year old Grade II listed former brewery, set within a landscaped garden – a delightful place for a relaxing drink with friends or family where you can enjoy free live music on some summer Sundays. There’s always something going on at the Brewery, which is why its bars, cafés and restaurants are such popular meeting places. Experience the buzz for yourself!
