Grizedale Arts is a contemporary arts organisation based on the historic site of Lawson Park farm in the Coniston valley. From this location it runs a local and international network of exhibitions, events, education and community projects. This programme takes place across Cumbria, the UK and working with local communities to change global culture.
Lawson Park is the headquarters of the organisation and a national resource available for use by artists, education programmes and conferences, research and community events. The farm itself is a project, run as a productive small holding with regular open days, volunteer days and activities, which are advertised on the Grizedale Arts website.
Grizedale Arts focuses on emerging artists and increasing the public access to art. Underpinning this programme is a philosophy that emphasises the functions of art and artists in practical and effective roles, as central influences in society.
Grizedale Arts is affiliated with Tate as part of the Plus Tate group of the UK's 18 most dynamic arts organisations.
