Kendal Arts International
Kendal Arts International (KAI) is a not-for-profit company set up in 2006 to create, produce and promote outdoor arts events and festivals of international quality, from street theatre to large-scale outdoor performances. It is committed to providing affordable, mostly free, outdoor arts, accessible to everyone.
KAI was most famous for the annual project, Mintfest - Kendal's International Festival of Street Arts. It successfully drew in thousands of people, cramming every nook and cranny of the town with wonderful performances from across the globe.
The Lakes Alive programme has brought world-class performance and arts events to the spectacular landscapes of the area. For the 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, it co-ordinated a fantastic evening of entertainment in South Lakeland, as the world looked on. ‘Les Commandos Percu’, a French pyrotechnic act, performed on the opening night of the prestigious London 2012 Festival which saw the shores of Lake Windermere at Bowness on Windermere brought to life in a spectacle of fire and music following the Olympic Torch Relay evening celebration event.
