Lakeland Arts Trust
The Lakeland Arts Trust is a registered charity and one of the leading independent museum and gallery trusts in the UK. This dynamic organisation creates opportunities for understanding and enjoyment through the work of artists and the Trust’s collections and buildings.
The Trust is highly regarded for the excellence of its collections and innovative exhibitions programme at Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Blackwell, The Arts & Crafts House and the Museum of Lakeland Life & Industry. It has developed important international collections, including those relating directly to the history of the Lake District.
In 2007, Lakeland Arts Trust took over responsibility for the Windermere Steamboat Museum, saving its nationally-significant collection of boats associated with Windermere. The Trust is now embarking on a major project to transform and reopen the Museum on its beautiful and atmospheric site on the lake shore. It is not yet officially open to the public but does open on special days. For opportunities to visit and dates for full opening please visit their website.
