Miss Potter (2006)
"Miss Potter" tells the story of Beatrix Potter, the author and illustrator of the beloved and best-selling children's books, and her struggle for love, happiness and success.
Miss Potter featured a great number of well known actors including Renee Zellweger (Beatrix Potter), Ewan McGregor (Norman Warne) and Emily Watson (Milly Warne).
The production also filmed at a number of other locations across South Lakeland including Dent Station; Loughrigg Tarn and Windermere.
Today you can visit many places across South Lakeland associated with Beatrix Potter, these include:
Hill Top, near Sawrey, Hawkshead - Beatrix bought this property in 1905 and it was her house for over 30 years. She based the illustrations for some of her books on this house and garden.
The Armitt Collection, Ambleside - Beatrix bequeathed her collection of natural watercolours to the Armitt library, it also has on display some of the first editions of her famous stories.
Beatrix Potter Gallery, Hawkshead - This seventeenth century building that now houses the Beatrix Potter Collection was the solicitors' office of her husband, William Heelis.
The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Bowness - The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is the only attraction licensed by Beatrix's publishers.
Yew Tree Farm, Coniston - This farm was once Beatrix's home and starred as her home in the Miss Potter film.
Loughrigg Tarn - One of the scenes in the Miss Potter film.
Windermere - There are a number of Beatrix Potter connections to Windermere, you can go on a lake cruise from Bowness to Ambleside and have a look at Wray Castle where Beatrix has her first holiday in the Lake District.
